Bones of the
Statue of Liberty
Structural Relics Removed During the 1984-1986 Restoration
“This thing shall live to eternity, when we have all passed away, and everything around us has moldered away.””
Marvel at relics that were part of Lady Liberty’s original roster of internal and external elements, many never before on public display. Your hands can even trace the surface of railings that guided visitors to the monument for almost 100 years.
Since being harvested by Rick Stocks as historically significant artifacts that had been integral components of the statue, they have been meticulously preserved and stored under archival conditions.
Belcourt owner Carolyn Rafaelian took over the materials’ stewardship in 2016 and, while maintaining their preservation, has been waiting for the right time and fashion to share them with the public. She decided the 250th anniversary of the United States of America was the appropriate time, while the exhibit coupled with a Lady Liberty Enlightening the World commemorative coin made with copper from the Statue of Liberty whose sales support Belcourt’s mission as a museum, were the suitable way to do it.

Armenia
An Exhibit of Life & Culture
“Being an Armenian is a merciless task and a heroic enterprise. It is a commandment, a mission, and a destiny that history has imposed on us from the depths of centuries”
Witness a powerful collection of captivating images by photographer Anastasiya Sergienya that bring the vibrant traditional music, food, faith, and culture of Armenia straight to Newport.
Accompanied by documentary filmmaker David Bettencourt, the creative team undertook an extensive journey, traveling to every state in Armenia to capture the essence of the nation. Through close collaboration with priests, scholars, and musicians, their work includes powerful photography and footage of ancient religious sites, bustling marketplaces, museums, and musicians' homes.
This multi-sensory display offers a unique opportunity to see, hear, and feel the rich and enduring heritage of Armenia.
